DIY: Der Winter kann kommen / Prepared for winter (knitted beret + scarflet)

Since you get an uncomfortable shiver when looking at the thermometer, I can hardly put away my knitting needles. But that is fine, because sometimes I should also use some yarn instead of just buying more and more ;-). And knitting is very relaxing - a cup of tea and a funny movie - what do you need more.

With my ultralarge skein of Schewe Nebraska (250 g, Farb-Nr. 4377, Karstadt) I tried to knit my first beret with matching scarflet. Up to now i always had some difficulties with english knitting instructions, because you have to learn all abbreviations again and the knitting technique is a little bit different sometimes.

But the first two projects were lot of fun and worked out perfectly.

I was looking for a beret pattern which is easy to understand and to knit. Fortunately I found the "purl beret" pattern on "the purl bee". I tried it out and the beret fits perfectly. I used a needle set with 4 needles instead of one circular needle in the beginning, but it is much more comfortable to knit with the circular needle (3 1/2 german size, length: 40 cm). I am now knitting a second beret in seed stitch with a circular needle.

SCHAL / SCARFLET

The scarflet pattern is called "Anthro-Inspired Scarflet by Kim Seio" and you can find it for free on Ravelry ((Ravelry link). This is a fast and easy project and I love the bow-like shape very much. I think I have to knit it in a thousand different colours :> I used 4 1/2 needles (german size).
